Maine Endwell Central School District holds it's students, parents, teachers and staff to a high standard. Reviewing the volunteer handbook allows you to understand the standard to which the volunteers will be held as well.

Initiating the background check

Because not every opportunity requires a background check, the background check is initiated by responding to an opportunity where one is required.
How to know which opportunities require a background check
-
Opportunities that require a background check are identified by a "ST" symbol next to the opportunity. The "ST" represents Sterling Volunteers; our background check provider.

Background checks are required when an opportunity involves direct contact with students during school hours.

The cost of the background check is covered by MECSD
The difference between a private opportunity and a public opportunity
A public opportunity is viewable by all users on Involve M-E. Any user that has met any/all requirements may sign up to volunteer.
A private opportunity is only viewable by users with access to the opportunity link. Private opportunities may be used for things like class parties, field trips and situations that require a specific volunteer skillset.
